Spring is right around the corner. Not only does that mean warmer weather and longer days, it also means a time for new beginnings! If your winter sales were a little lackluster, this is a great time to make up for it. Although not as big as Christmas, there are several Spring holidays that you can center retail promotions around to put some spring in your profits:
First Day of Spring (March 20th) & National Fragrance Day (March 21st)
Weather permitting, celebrate the first day of spring with an outdoor event. Get local retailers together and have a sidewalk sale. Get restaurants involved by asking them to sell sample sizes of some of their menu items to generate more foot traffic. Finally hold a Spring themed contest or hold a perfume raffle to celebrate National Fragrance Day!
Tax Day (April 15th)
With Tax Day falling on a Saturday this year, this could be the perfect time to entice those lucky Americans that have a pent-up demand for products to spend their tax refund at your store.
At a time when customers have taxes on their mind, a “sales-tax free day” is a great promotion. You can get your store on customers’ minds before they get their refunds with ads, marketing emails and social media messages asking them how they’re planning to spend their refund and tempting them with products you just got in for the Spring season or sales.
Easter (April 16th)
Easter marketing seems to come earlier and earlier every year. Some retailers even start selling Easter baskets right after Valentine’s Day!
For this holiday, it’s time to “think outside the basket”! Easter baskets are no longer just for kids and filled with candy and stuffed animals. Easter baskets are for adults too…packed with bath & body products, gourmet food, and more!
Earth Day (April 22nd)
Show your support for making the world a better place and hold an Earth Day event. Earth day falls on a Saturday this year and is an excellent time to promote your earth-friendly product offerings. For instance, have a “Green Your Beauty Routine” event and invite vendors to educate your customers on their eco-friendly products and/or offer specials on everything that will help get your customers looking and feeling their best inside and out, while helping Mother Earth!
